Poverty has been a huge problem for under-developed countries such as Indonesia. It is also one of the main causes for the involvement of street kids in drug trafficking. That is why, Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB), which has so far been known for its anti drug campaign amongst Indonesian youth, is also focusing on the education of street kids and underprivileged kids who have dropped out of school, as a strategy for drug demand reduction whilst consistently prioritizing primary prevention against drug abuse and drug trafficking. In 2003, YCAB established Rumah Belajar Cinta Anak Bangsa and its objective is to provide formal education (elementary, junior high school, and senior high school) to street kids and underprivileged kids who have dropped out of school. Until 2009, RBCAB has educated 6.861 kids, and this year (2010) our goal is to educate 4000 more kids. That is we launched the "Angel Of Change" campaign.
- 59,9 % of the population live under $2 /day (Bisnis Indonesia , 2007)
- 22 million people are unemployed in Indonesia (CIA, Watchbook, 2007)
- More than 1,1 million kids have dropped out of school in Indonesia (Dikenal 2007)
- 92,8 % of street kids are involved in drug trafficking. (ILO, 2004)
